Caring For Your Aran Knitwear
We've been sharing the warmth of Aran knits with the world for over 40 years, and in that time, we've become pretty passionate experts on how to keep your cherished knits looking as beautiful and timeless as the day you first got them.
Here are a few simple tips to help you care for your beloved knit
A Gentle Hand Wash
Use lukewarm water and avoid harsh chemicals or high heat. Soak for about 10–15 minutes, then gently give it a squeeze (never wring it!) and rinse thoroughly.
Dry It The Right Way
After washing, lay your knit flat on a clean towel and roll it up to remove excess water. Then reshape it and let it dry naturally on a flat surface. Avoid hanging it up, as this can cause it to stretch and lose its shape.
Store With Care
When you’re not wearing your Aran, store it in a cool, dry place. Hangers or tight storage can damage the wool’s natural fibers.
Embrace The Character
A little pilling or stretching is natural over time, it’s all part of your knit’s story, but if you feel it's needed, use a fabric comb to tidy it up and give it a refresh.
Aran knit is crafted with care, steeped in Irish heritage and tradition. Each stitch carries generations of skill, designed to bring luck, success, and health to its owner. A timeless symbol of Irish craftsmanship, it’s a treasure you can pass down through generations for years to come.
